Letter from the President – July 2025

Welcome to Threaded Fasteners: The Perfect Company.

 

It’s been a little over 5 years since we were staring down the barrel of a global pandemic with the spread of Corona Virus 19. Today, we simply refer to it as Covid. It still exists, as a matter of fact it paid a visit to my family just over a week ago. I remember the early days of the pandemic and the volume of information that was coming at our team and then discerning what to say and how often to say it. When I look back, the execution was Perfect. Because we had Perfect People making Perfect Decisions at Perfect Pace. 

 

I hope by now you’ve concluded that either I’ve lost my mind, or that I’m about to pivot to a point; You know me well.

 

This Friday, July 4th, we will celebrate Independence Day to commemorate the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. This historic document declared the thirteen American colonies as independent from British rule, marking the birth of the United States as a sovereign nation. Several years later The Articles of Confederation were created to establish a framework for governance in the newly independent United States. They aimed to prevent the concentration of power in a single entity, ensuring checks and balances among government branches. Ultimately, they preserved state power and independence, reflecting the Founding Fathers’ desire for a limited central authority. 

 

Then in 1787 another document was signed, The Constitution of the United States. It was intended to create a stronger, more unified nation than the one established under the Articles of Confederation. Do you see a pattern developing?

 

The preamble to the Constitution, says, “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, ensure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

 

Some legal scholars and commentators have noted that the phrase “more perfect” suggests a continuous process of improvement and refinement, rather than a claim of absolute perfection. This understanding is reflected in the ongoing evolution of American society and its institutions, as the nation continues to strive towards a more just and equal Union. 

 

We do not live in a perfect nation, nor do we work for the perfect company, but I want to commit to making both a better place. Our position is to pursue Excellence, not perfection, because perfect execution requires perfect people; and neither is attainable. So, my pledge will be to live in a posture of gratefulness for those who have sacrificed so that we can live in freedom today, as well as celebrate the fact that I “get to” be a part of a culture that creates value in and for the people we have the privilege of serving at TFI.    Happy 4th!
